Several Moon Area High School alumni have recently been recognized for their hard work and dedication!
Moon Area High School (MAHS) class of 1996 alumnus, Joshua Vallimont, recently received one of the Charlotte Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Awards.
This awards program is sponsored by MassMutual Carolinas and serves to recognize outstanding accomplishments from young professionals in the Charlotte area. He was nominated for this award by his company, DPR Construction.
Vallimont continued his post-secondary education at Penn State University and participated in the five-year Architectural Engineering Program.
Vallimont's interest in engineering started with computer-aided design (CAD) courses at MAHS. He took industrial arts classes with CAD software taught by Jack Schricker and Terry Nicastro. These courses were part of the reason Vallimont pursued Architectural Engineering and also influenced him to mentor interested students at Charlotte's local schools in the ACE Mentorship Program for the past seven years.
Angela Thomas, a 2013 graduate of Moon Area High School, was selected earlier this year to attend the Pollstar Live! 2017 Conference in Los Angeles, California.
Thomas is currently a student at Point Part University with a major in sports, arts, and entertainment management (SAEM).
Thomas was one of eight selected in her major to attend the conference, which took place January 31 through February 2, 2017. The event offered networking opportunities with talent agents, marketing professionals other key players in the music and entertainment industry.
On Sunday, April 9, Moon Area High School (MAHS) alumna, Sarah Ross, was inducted to the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Bowling League (WPIBL) Hall of Fame.
Ross is a 2012 graduate of MAHS and attended Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA, for Business Management with a bowling scholarship. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration at Saint Francis.
Ross’s high school bowling coach, Mike Conway, nominated her earlier this year for the honor. Ross was also inducted to the MAHS Wall of Fame. While bowling for Moon, she also was one of five female bowlers in the nation selected as a Dexter United States Bowling Congress All American in 2012.
Some of Ross’s recent accomplishments include receiving the 2016 Northeast Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year Award and being named a national Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association Academic All-American from 2012-2016.
