Hyde Students, Teachers Participate in Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad

On May 10 and 11, Hyde Elementary students participated in a building-wide Science Olympiad.

Students were split into multi-grade groups to compete in the two-day competition that covered a variety of science disciplines. Kindergarten and first grade were organized into teams and grades two through four were put into teams. Students had the opportunity to sharpen not only their science skills, but teamwork and sportsmanship, as well.

Mrs. Dushack dressed for the occasion as Ms. Frizzle from the science-themed TV and book series, “The Magic School Bus,” while the rest of the teachers dressed as scientists for the competition.

OlympiadWork stations focused on topics such as engineering, weather, and aerodynamics paired with games such as charades, bingo, crosswords, and jeopardy.

Prizes were given to students who placed first through third in the categories of overall activity points, teamwork, and attitude.
