Moon Area High School students Justin Miller, Josh Burns, and Nick Maue competed on Wednesday, April 11, 2017, at the 8th annual Allegheny County Teen Safe Driving Competition held at Pittsburgh Technical College. The competition involved a perceptual test, a written test, and a driving test.
The competition is hosted by the Allegheny County Health Department and a number of partnering organizations.
Justin Miller took first place winning $1,000 and chance to compete at the state competition, which will take place in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, this May. Josh Burn placed third and won $250.
Miller, Burns, and Maue also earned the team award and $500 for the Moon Area Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D.) program for having the highest overall team score.
S.A.D.D. coordinators Joseph Martonik and Misia Goodson as well as Moon Area School Resource Officer Angela Zane sponsored the students in the competition.
