Moon Area School District continually strives to help build a united community. This year, we are increasing our focus on kindness both in and out of school. We believe that building a foundation as a unified community that is focused on traits such as kindness, responsibility, respect, generosity, honesty, etc., can help prevent bullying.
With this in mind, we wanted to share with you the launch of our “Choose Kind” initiative. This initiative spans grades K-12 with an extended focus on reaching the community, as well, to spread one joint message: kindness.
The last Friday of each month, we will celebrate a different character trait that builds and reinforces the Choose Kind campaign. This month, students focused on kindness and in October students will focus on responsibility.
By focusing on school-wide positive behavior supports, we believe that our students, families, staff, and community members will strengthen a message to be safe, be kind, and own your actions. Through our anti-bullying program, Rachel’s Challenge, we believe that we can emphasize ways to spread positivity and therefore reinforce safety in both our schools and community.
We know that a child’s surroundings plays a large role in their life and we hope to see our families and community members support our Choose Kind initiative throughout Moon and Crescent Townships. If you would like to join our kindness mission, you may purchase a “Choose Kind” shirt on our school store at www.moontigersapparel.comand wear it the last Friday of each month! We believe we can make a positive influence on our youth together, as a community.
