On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, Brooks Elementary School hosted “An Evening of Seuss.” The event was hosted throughout the building with many Dr. Seuss-themed activities.
Upon entry, students received an “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” map guide for the evening and received stamps after attending each station.
In the library, students browsed the Seussful Scholastic Book Fair with a number of books, games, and posters to choose from.
In the first-floor hallway, students sampled Seuss’s famous green eggs and ham on their way to the Imagination Space where students gathered around Mrs. Scanlon, Miss Masroianni, Mrs. Hilpert, and Mrs. Kephart as they each read Dr. Seuss classics.
Mr. Blyzwick coordinated a glow-in-the-dark dance party in the gymnasium. Pre-recorded dance videos created in gym class were projected on the wall for students to follow along.
Miss Scanlon, Mrs. Pannebaker, Mrs. Eaton, Mrs. Fogarty, Mrs. Wilson, and Miss Archer hosted fun and unique Seuss-themed STEAM activities for students upstairs in the LGI room. Activities included making electrical circuits from play dough, programming mini robots, and engineering challenges among others.
The hallways throughout the building served as the gallery for Miss Day’s Seusstastic Art Show.
Under the direction of Mrs. Seifarth, second grade students performed “Seussical” in the cafeteria for those in attendance.
