Moon Area School District (MASD) is the proud recipient of the 2018 Best in Communities for Music Education. This is the fifth consecutive year the district has received this prestigious designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation.
“On behalf of the Board of Education, we would like to congratulate and commend both our musicians and Music Department for their outstanding achievements,” said School Board President, Jerry Testa. “This designation symbolizes MASD’s commitment to the arts, which we believe is an integral component in our curriculum to provide a well-rounded educational experience for our students.”
The NAMM Foundation recognizes dedicated communities that maintain music education as an integral part of the curriculum. MASD is one of 14 schools in Allegheny County to receive this award and one of only 84 in Pennsylvania.
“It is an honor for MASD to be recognized as a Best Community for Music Education,” said Music Department Chair, Mr. Nick Barthen. “This not only is an award for the students, staff, and administration of MASD, but also this honors the parents and community members of Moon and Crescent Townships for their continued support for Music in the schools.”
