Bon Meade Elementary celebrated Career week May 7-11, 2018. Students in grades K-4 explored a variety of career paths.
Each day of the week presented a new opportunity for students to engage in the exciting discovery of occupations.
On Monday, students were invited to dress up like their future dream career. On Tuesday, students participated in the career fair, where many volunteers donated their time to demonstrate and explain their professions to students in both the classrooms and gymnasium.
Students participated in Community Helpers Career Day on Wednesday. Police officers, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and firefighters taught students in grades K-2 the value of those who help the community and their roles. Students also had an opportunity to participate in a question and answer session, as well as explore the vehicles.
On Thursday, representatives from Covestro conducted science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) activities with students in grades 3 and 4.
To close out Career Week, students in K-4 partook in Junior Achievement Day. Junior Achievement (JA) is the largest organization in the nation that is dedicated to the economic success of the youth. With activities provided from Junior Achievement, classrooms worked to complete JA’s mission to empower youth with hands-on learning towards economic readiness.
