MAHS Drama Club: Crazy for You

Crazy for You

The Moon Area High School (MAHS) Drama Club presented Crazy for You March 9-12, which was sponsored by Kenny Ross Toyota.

Crazy for You made its debut in the 1930s as Girl Crazy. The modern adaptation focuses on a New York banker and aspiring performer, Bobby Child, who must foreclose a run-down theater in Nevada with an outstanding mortgage. When Child arrives, he attempts to save the theater by putting on a grand show with the townspeople and some of his talented New York friends all the while falling in love with the local postmistress, who's father owns the theater.

The show was directed and produced by Laura Mitchell and co-directed and produced by Robert Michael. The drama club showcased their talent in acting, singing, and dancing during the show. The show brought in hundreds of people over the weekend in support of the production.

"The challenge of bringing a Broadway show to a high school setting is an enormous effort that involves many people, but the students at Moon put their hearts and souls into this art form," said Robert Michael. "Crazy for You was just another example of Moon Area High School students striving for and achieving excellence!"

Moon Area School District is proud of the hard work the cast members and crew put into the musical. Board members at Monday night's board meeting praised the performances of the students and the energy of the show.

"The production was terrific and the talent level of our MASD students never ceases to amaze me," said Board President Jerry Testa. "The acting, singing, and dancing was exceptional and the musicians in the pit orchestra were outstanding."

"They were supported by an excellent stage crew, which included props, make-up and lighting," he said. "All of this was accomplished under the guidance of Laura Mitchell and her staff who worked tirelessly with our students.  I look forward to next year's musical!"
