MAHS Girls in STEM Club Travels to Beaver County Conservation District to Explore Environmental Careers

Girls in STEM

On May 23, 2018, the Moon Area High School Girls in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Club visited the Beaver County Conservation District (BCCD) to meet with women in STEM professions.

Watershed specialist Marty Warchol; environmental educator, Heather Humbert; and resource conservationist Katie Staudenmeier, (all from BCCD) spoke about their careers in environmental protection.

The girls had an opportunity to ask the environmental professionals questions about their career paths.

The club then explored parts of restored wetland projects and trails at the BCCD headquarters.

The purpose of the club is to engage young women in STEM career exploration and education.
