Middle School Lower House Puts Halloween Candy to Use for Service Project

MAMS

Moon Area Middle School (MAMS) 5th and 6th grader students hosted a candy drive last week giving students the opportunity to donate their unwanted Halloween candy for active duty members serving overseas.

MAMS students filled over 22 boxes of candy!

The candy was sorted, packaged, and sent to the Yellow Ribbon Girls, a non-profit organization located in Ellwood City. The organization sends various care packages to the troops throughout the year.

"It was a wonderful way for students to show appreciated to our veterans and to put kindness into action," said 6th grade sponsor, Mrs. Autumn Cairns. "We would like to send a big thank you to the Moon Rotary Club who kindly donated $100 to the organization to help with shipping the candy," she said.
