MASD Students Practice Spanish Skills with Students from Around the World

Skype 1

Ms. Kaminsky’s middle school Spanish classes have been participating in an ongoing international project this year. The classes engage in "mystery Skypes” with other classrooms in the U.S. who are learning Spanish or classes in Spanish speaking countries.

This middle school Spanish classes have spoken with students from:

  • Spain
  • Norway
  • Argentina
  • El Salvador
  • Utah
  • Mexico
  • Kansas
  • Wisconsin
  • Washington

The premise of a "mystery Skype" is that students take turn asking YES/NO questions to guess the other classroom's location in the world.

“It has been a lot of fun and a great way for the students to practice their Spanish,” said Ms. Kaminsky.

Time permitting, students guessed each other’s location, asked questions, and shared information about both themselves and their culture.
