Transportation

Round-trip bus transportation is provided for students in kindergarten through grade 12.  Bus stops in Moon and Crescent townships have been situated as conveniently as possible; however, they cannot be randomly changed because of the mandatory approval process.

Parents are reminded not to allow children to change buses without written permission from parents and principal approval.

Bus Information

All student bus information can be found on our parent/student portal, Skyward. Skyward information has been mailed home to parents. Please check your mail for your login information.

Students should arrive at bus stop at least 10 minutes prior to posted time.

The District encourages the parents/guardians of elementary students in grades 1-4 to meet their child(ren) at the bus stop for the afternoon drop-off.  The parents/guardians of kindergarten students are required to escort their child(ren) from the bus stop.  The bus driver will not release a kindergarten student without the presence of a parent/guardian at the bus stop.

Questions or concerns regarding transportation can be addressed to Sally Currie, transportation coordinator, via email at scurrie@moonarea.net or call 412-264-9440 ext. 1131.

Daily Late Bus Information

A late bus is available to all middle and high school students participating in after-school activities. Private school students also utilize the late bus transportation.

SafeStop App

Moon Area School District will be participating in a third-party mobile app called SafeStop. SafeStop works in coordination with our bus company, Student Transportation of America (STA). The GPS systems installed in each bus allow the app to track your student’s bus route in real-time with 30-second refresh updates.

During these first two weeks with SafeStop, please be aware that times may be a minute or two off.

We are excited to offer this feature to our families.

Get started:

  • Register with SafeStop at info.SafeStopApp.com/MoonPA
    • Username: your home email
    • Password: create a password
  • Use your student’s ID number to view their route
  • Download the SafeStop App on your mobile device or tablet to view routes or log into www.SafeStopApp.com

Need Help?

Due to the unique nature of using a third-party app, we have no control over technical difficulties, lost passwords, or glitches that may arise while using the app. For questions or help regarding the app, please email support@safestopapp.com or call (800) 843-8936.
