Superintendent Search Updates

The Moon Area School District Board of Education announced in June that the search for the new superintendent will begin in the fall of 2016.

In an effort to remain transparent and focus on community feedback, the Board thus far initiated three community meetings, an e-survey, and an estimated timeline.

This page will be updated on a regular basis as milestones are achieved.

The Moon Area School District (MASD) Board of Education voted on Monday, May 22, 2017, to appointed Dr. Maureen Ungarean as the new Superintendent of Schools for Moon Area School District beginning July 1, 2017. Ungarean will serve a three-year term for the District.

Superintendent Job Description Approved

The Moon Area School District superintendent job description was approved at the November 14, 2016 board meeting.

Superintendent Search Community e-Survey

From September 19 through October 4, community members were invited to participate in the Superintendent Search Community e-Survey.

This e-survey gave the community an opportunity to let the district know which qualities and traits make for a successful superintendent. The data collected from the survey will be reviewed and considered prior to creating and posting the job description and the interview process.

Superintendent Search Community Meetings

The Moon Area School District Board of Education announced in late June that a series of community meetings will be held to collect feedback from the community on what qualities and traits they feel make for a successful superintendent. During these meetings, the Board also provided an estimated timeline (subject to change) for the superintendent search, which was recently updated on November 17, 2016.

Community Meetings were held on July 21, August 11, and September 19, 2016, in the high school LGI room and were open to the public.

A community e-survey was created after the community meetings concluded to give an additional opportunity for community members to voice their thoughts.
