Hyde Elementary Students Donate & Decorate: Photos

During the month of December, the students and staff at Hyde Elementary celebrated the holiday spirit by decorating their classroom doors and some even the hallways. The goal was simple: Spread the holiday cheer by decorating doors and donating books. The books were donated to an Aliquippa organization, helped out by former Moon graduate Elliot Hawke, that in turn gives them as presents to children in need. The students helped donate over 100 books and raised some money to buy more. Please click here to view a photo slideshow, courtesy of Mr. Baumgardner.

School Closings Announced for Act 80 Days in February

School will be closed for students for one additional calendar day to provide professional development for teachers and staff under Act. 80.  Please make a note of the following information as it applies to your household.
School will be closed as follows:
 
February 13, 2012, for Elementary Schools only - Elementary students will not attend school on Feb. 13th, but secondary (middle and high school) students will.
 
February 17, 2012, for Middle and High Schools only - Secondary students will not attend school on Feb. 17th, but elementary students will.
 
Both days are full-day, Act 80 days.

 

MASD's requests for Act 80 Exception have been officially granted by PDE under the authority of Section 1504 of the "Pennsylvania Public School Code of 1949." The MASD School Board Directors approved submission of this request to PDE on 11/14/11.
 

Transportation will still be provided for students who attend Parkway West and other alternative/private/parochial schools as usual. Please contact the transportation office if you have questions about this matter.
