A team of educators from China visited J. H. Brooks Elementary School classrooms on Friday, May 3, 2019.
During the team's time at Brooks, they visited Maureen Archer and Rachael Kamicker's classrooms to observe instruction, group lessons, social skills sessions, and inclusion.
Rachel Kittenbrink, Ph.D., BCBA-D, Founder/Director of Pittsburgh Behavioral Services is the primary facilitator for the U.S. training initiative and is hosting the team of educators from China who are seeking to learn best strategies for education of children with Autism.
This educational collaboration is a partnership between the Handicapped Federation of China, the Beijing Autism Association, and the South East Asian Prayer Center.
"Since the Moon team has shown such incredible commitment to serving the kids with Autism with an incredibly high level of care, I thought a visit to [Moon Area School District] would be an awesome experience for them," Dr. Kittenbrink says.
The team of educators will be participating in site visits and training from the UPMC John Merck Clinic, Moon Area School District, and specialized training from members of the PaTTAN Autism Initiative.
