McCormick Hybrid Model (Sept. 18) Hybrid Model

McCormick Elementary is excited to welcome back our K-4 students to our building on October 5, 2020. The COVID-19 Pandemic has certainly presented our educational institutions and society with unique challenges. Our faculty and staff across Moon Area School District have been working diligently to ensure that students are setup for success.

Although there have been significant changes in education, we are determined to adapt and conform to what is best to serve our students and Moon Area community.

Operation Status Update -- Sept. 17, 2020 reopening plans

I am excited to announce that we have a plan to bring our students back to school! It’s been far too long since our schools were occupied by our young learners.

The COVID-19 infection data from the Allegheny County Health Department, The Pennsylvania Department of Education, and the Moon Area School District has remained consistently low.  Because of this, our district has begun the process of safely reopening our schools for in person instruction.

As long as the number of COVID-19 cases in our area remains steady or declines, our plan is to begin bringing students back to school for in-person instruction on October 5, 2020.

MASD Receives EVERFI Champion Seal EVERFI

Moon Area School District has earned the EVERFI Champion Seal, awarded annually to North American school districts who’ve made an exemplary commitment to whole-child education.

This recognition acknowledges our dedication to transformational change in the interest of equity and the well-being of all students. This honor is provided by EVERFI, a digital education organization focused on helping educators address the most challenging issues affecting society, including financial literacy, social-emotional learning, health and wellness, inclusion, and college and career readiness.

When the Moon High School Class of 1968 graduated, they couldn’t have imagined that their plans for a class reunion in August of 2020 would be undermined by a worldwide pandemic. Thanks to quick thinking and a new partnership between the Class of 1968 and the Moon Area Education Foundation, the class reunion funds will be put to good use. Those funds will now provide eight scholarships to Robert Morris University for Moon Area High School seniors over the coming years.
