J.A. Allard Elementary School Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We appreciate your support and attentiveness with following these procedures and recommended safety guidelines for an orderly arrival and dismissal.
The school day for students is from 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

ARRIVAL: Students being DRIVEN to school are permitted to arrive at 8:25 a.m.  The main lobby ‘Student Drop-Off’ area will not be open prior to that time. Please do not leave your child unattended in the front of the school building before the doors open. Students may only enter through these doors.  The front parking lot is used for Moon Area School District (MASD) buses, vans, and car rider morning drop-off. Please allow space for MASD buses and vans to drop off directly in front of the main office.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will not be using the main lobby area to hold students.  All students will enter the lobby doors where they may pick-up a bagged breakfast before heading to their classrooms.
Our goal is to have students report to school on time. If your child arrives and the doors are closed, please pull to the door and ring the buzzer.  Someone will let the student in and sign them into the building.  Parents will not be allowed to enter the building.
During morning drop-off, CAR RIDERS are asked to enter the parking lot from Shafer Road, keep to the right, and follow the traffic flow to the main lobby.  Allard staff members will be present for student drop off at the main lobby. For safety and efficiency purposes in the car line, please refrain from parking and walking your child to the door. Please also refrain from using a cell phone during drop-off.
For the safety of our students, please have your child exit from the passenger side onto the walkway.
**Please do not leave your child unattended in the front of the school building before the doors open for entry**
Please drive safely in all parking areas and roads and follow the directions of staff members.
Afternoon dismissal begins promptly at 3:00 p.m. Parents may begin arriving at 2:45 p.m.  Buses and vans will be parked around the bus loop in the front of the building. Cars are NOT permitted to park in the bus loop. If you are parked in the bus loop, you will be asked to move your car to a parking space.

If a child is being picked up at dismissal time, parents are to report to the designated area no later than 3:00 p.m. Staff members will be there to take your child’s name and check your identification.  If you are unable to arrive by 3:00 p.m., please be sure to email your child’s teacher and the main office indicating that you will be picking him/her up at dismissal or call the office by 3:00.  Please always bring your valid driver’s license with you.  Anyone picking up your child from school must also bring a valid driver’s license and be listed IN SKYWARD.
