The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) recently held a food drive that included a friendly competition to raise funds and collect food for local food pantries. The Moon Area School District and community fully bought into the drive and the district contributed $3,789 to the food bank as well as 500 pounds of food!
The success of the drive was spearheaded by the high school student council who raised over $700 in their penny wars challenge among the high school grades. Additionally, McCormick Elementary, the high School Key Club, sports teams and band conducted food drives to add to the success. All of this effort culminated in the school district being the overall winner in the WPIAL competition outdistancing the next closest school by over $1,300.
Congratulations and thank you all for giving back to our community!
