Mia Cochran

The Moon Area School District Board of Education recognized sophomore, Mia Cochran, of the girls cross country team for being the first Moon Area High School cross country athlete to claim the cross country state championship.

Mia recently claimed the state championship title with a time of 17:53, her personal record of the season. In taking first at the state meet, she beat the runner-up by 18 seconds.

Another impressive note is that she won the WPIAL championship with a time of 18:14 with the runner-up nearly a minute behind her. To add, she placed first at the MAC meet and set a new course record with a time of 18:21.

Mia remains undefeated in the section, taking home first place at every race.

In addition to the section competitions, Mia also placed first at the PIAA Foundation XC Invitational Gold Race with a time of 18:21 and 3rd place at the 17th Annual Red, White, and Blue Classic.
