Brooks Elementary Honors Local Veterans at Assembly

BR Vets Day

Brooks Elementary celebrated Veterans Day on Monday, November 11, 2019, by honoring parents, grandparents, and friends of students during a morning assembly.

With a goal was to bring in 10 veterans, Brooks surpassed that benchmark with honoring 47 veterans!

The hallways were decorated with students' writing and heartfelt signs and an American flag, created by Mrs. Sara Pangonis, adorned the stage as a backdrop.

The hour-long assembly included presentations and songs honoring the different branches of the military.

Mrs. Jaime Rea included all K-4 students by teaching each grade level a patriotic song. Each student stood proudly to sing a song for the veterans.

Student readers informed the student body about the five branches of military. Ms. Maureen Archer created a movie, which taught the students about the history of Veterans Day and included many of Brooks students thanking their family member for his/her service.

Mrs. Catherine Taylor recognized each veteran by announcing his/her name and a Brooks student was called up to present the veteran with a red, white, or blue carnation.

Thank you to our veterans for your service and to our Brooks Elementary students and staff for extending their kindness to those who serve our nation!
