MASD Plan Beginning November 23

Dear Moon Area School District Families:

We have now been in the “substantial” range for two weeks in row. Therefore, we are going to move forward with the plan that I shared on Wednesday, November 18. This means our schedule for the next few weeks will be as follows.

  • On Monday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 24, all Hybrid Model students in grades K-12 will report to school in person.

  • On Wednesday, November 25, all students will be virtual as previously scheduled.

  • Thursday, November 26 through Monday, November 30, students will be on break.

  • On Tuesday, December 1, we will initiate our Virtual Mode of Operation. This means all students K-12 will learn virtually beginning on December 1, 2020, unless notified otherwise.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health recommends that our COVID-19 community spread is reduced to at least the “moderate” range for two weeks before students return to school in person. With winter break approaching, our tentative plan is to be fully virtual through Friday, January 8 with the intention to return to our Hybrid Model on Monday, January 11, 2021.   We will continue to monitor this situation and the data to determine if there is an opportunity to return sooner.

Food Service

Please support MASD Food Services and participate in the Free Meals to Go Program.  You are not taking the meals away from someone who needs it more – they are for all children!   You’re helping the District’s Food Service program stay financially afloat.  The USDA is covering the cost of meals through June 2, 2021.

During virtual learning, the Moon Area School District Food Service Department is providing a drive-thru meal service for all students who are learning remotely 5 days a week and for any child(ren) 18 and under from Moon Township or Crescent Township that resides in the Moon Area School District.

Families may send one person (parent/guardian, grandparent, sibling, neighbor, friend, babysitter, etc.) to pick up the meals for all children in the family. The drive-thru meal service will occur on the dates below from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the back of the High School by the District Administration offices. Each meal bag will contain 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches.
