Dear MASD Families:
Welcome back! I hope you all had a great spring break and enjoyed time with your families.
As we head into the last few months of the school year, I would like to respectfully remind you that we are still diligently following all our covid health and safety guidelines.
The number of covid cases in Allegheny County -- and specifically within our community – are once again on the rise. We have currently returned to the substantial range of COVID-19 community spread. It is my goal to keep our schools open for in person instruction. In order to do that, we need your help.
If your child is not feeling well or is exhibiting any of the possible covid symptoms, please keep him or her home from school until you are able to seek further guidance from your child’s health care provider. If somebody in your home has COVID-19 or if you know that your child has been exposed, please keep him or her home from school. Your child will have the opportunity to participate in virtual learning while he or she is home from school.
Seasonal allergies are very common at this time of year. Unfortunately, there is overlap between some of the allergy symptoms and COVID-19 symptoms. Please continue to use our daily wellness check to determine if your child is well enough to attend school. If you are unsure, please contact your child’s school nurse or their pediatrician.
I would also like to remind you that the PSSAs and Keystone Exams are just around the corner. These exams are required by the state and are not optional at this time. More information was sent to parents. You can also find the details on our website. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s principal.
Thank you for your continued support and flexibility. We sincerely appreciate your commitment to taking appropriate measures to ensure the health and safety of our school community so that we may do our best to educate your children.
