Two Moon Area High School band students have been named PMEA All-State Musicians! Congratulations to flautist Lauren Radeschi, MAHS junior, and oboist Michael Gallagher, MAHS sophomore.
Students across the state of Pennsylvania participated in various virtual band, orchestra, and choir festivals throughout the months of January and February. The virtual festivals, which were sponsored by Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA), provided additional enriching experiences to dedicated music students.
While attending these festivals virtually, students auditioned to move onto the next stage. The PMEA system is set-up as a district, region, and state qualifier system in which students qualify for each level by successfully auditioning into the next ensemble. Auditions are adjudicated by ensemble directors from across the state. Each level brings students from additional schools culminating at the All-State level where students from all across the state of Pennsylvania audition to be named an All-State Musician. There are 12 districts and 6 regions in the state with only about fifteen to twenty percent of the students who begin at the district level moving onto the all-state level.
Moon Area High School is extremely proud to have two band students participating and representing MASD in this prestigious event.
