Summer Remediation Transportation Schedule

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Dear MASD Families:

For students attending Moon Area School District’s K-6 summer remediation program, the entire program will be held at Brooks Elementary School 412-264-9440. Families will receive a mailing later this week with bus and school pick-up/drop-off information. Those who requested bus transportation will be mailed specific bus stop details, and the overall bus routing schedule is posted here. Please contact Vicki Hricz 412-264-9440 x1130 or for assistance.

Current Covid safety protocols requiring students to wear face coverings (masks and/or shields) will continue on buses and while students are indoors. However, mask wearing is optional outdoors. This expectation will continue through the first two weeks of the summer program until Pennsylvania’s Covid-19 school safety recommendations expire on June 30. If protocols do expire, students may continue to wear masks on an optional basis. Summer program adults onsite who have been vaccinated will also be permitted to forgo masks at that time.

The in-person learning program will operate from 9AM-12PM Monday through Thursday during four weeks in June/July (dates listed below). There will be no cost for students to attend, and meals will be included at no charge. The K-6 summer program will emphasize remediation efforts in English/Language Arts and Mathematics for current grade levels. For example, Grade 4 students will take part in remediation efforts to strengthen Grade 4 content.

MASD's K-6 summer remediation program will be held at Brooks Elementary School dates/times:

  • June 21 - June 24 (Monday - Thursday, 9AM-12PM)
  • June 28 - July 1 (Monday - Thursday, 9AM-12PM)
  • *There will be no remediation program taking place the week of July 5th.
  • July 12 - July 15 (Monday - Thursday, 9AM-12PM)
  • July 19 - July 22 (Monday - Thursday, 9AM-12PM)

Students may bring a backpack to the summer remediation program to carry a water/drink bottle, snack, pencils, or other supplies; however, nothing extra is needed from families. All curricular materials will reside at school. Students will also be issued a lanyard and badge to assist with grade-level and transportation identification. This will be issued to students on the first day, and students should bring the badge with them each day.

A grant was secured to include Venture Outdoors in designing activities for 15-20 students each day. For our young learners, Venture Outdoors’ staff will highlight teambuilding and STEM exercises during 45 minutes of recess each day. For older students, “field trip” Fridays are being planned for optional two hour experiences. You may review website for insight into possible activities. A MASD staff member will accompany all groups working with Venture Outdoors on and off campus.
