Free Meals for the 2021-2022 School Year

food service update

Dear MASD Families:

We are pleased to inform you that Moon Area School District will provide free meals for the 2021-2022 school year.  This program is available to schools and districts as part of the waivers issued by the United States Department of Agriculture.

All students who are enrolled at Moon Area School District are eligible to receive a nutritional breakfast and lunch each school day at no charge to your household. No further action is needed for your family to receive free meals. “Extras” such as snacks and bottled water are not included in the free meal program and may only be purchased when your cafeteria account is funded.

Please note that even though all MASD students will receive free meals for the 2021-2022 school year, it is still important to fill out a free/reduced meals application to determine if your child qualifies. Your status does not just affect your cafeteria account, it also impacts other educational obligations you may face for the remainder of the school year. Last spring the United States Department of Agriculture's EBT program provided an EBT card with funds for any student who qualified for free or reduced meal benefits. Should another program be approved, you would need to be on the free and reduced meal benefit list. Your child(ren) will be able to participate in these meal programs without paying a fee or submitting an application.
