MAMS Balsa Wood Tower Competition

steam

Eighth grade students in Mrs. Zajicek's STEAM Class are making balsa wood towers as part of their hands on learning project.

The goal is for students to make the lightest tower that would hold the most weight. Students are using math, science, art (technical drawings), engineering and computer technology skills to create their towers.

Once the students finish with their towers, the class will have a competition to see who built the lightest tower capable of holding the most weight. After building and testing their tower once, students will have the chance to alter or reconfigure it to make it better for a second round of testing.

Good luck, 8th grade!
