MAHS Students Sign National Letters of Intent


Eight Moon Area School District seniors signed their National Letters of Intent this month.

Congratulations to Jacqueline Brace, Mia Cochran, Trinity Patterson, Amalia Simmons, Reilly Sunday, Emma Theodorsson, Megan Tomasic and Aleena Ulke!

Jacqueline Brace will be attending Saint Vincent College in the fall as pitcher for the softball team.  She plans on studying early childhood education and special education.  She is a three-year letter winner in softball and bowling and has been on the honor roll for two years.

Mia Cochran will be running track and cross country at the University of Arkansas.  She is a three-time PIAA state cross country champion, 2021 1600m and 3200m state champ and Gatorade Cross Country Player of the Year.  Mia is also a 2021 mile All-American, 2020 cross country All-American, a Footlocker National Finalist, four-year varsity letterman, a three-time WPIAL cross country champ and 1600m and 3700m WPIAL champ.  She is a high honor roll student, member of the Key Club and Trivia Club.  Mia plans on studying sports nutrition and hopes to work as a team nutritionist or pro runner.

Trinity Patterson will be swimming at the University of Findlay and studying exercise science.  She has lettered three times in swimming and track and is the two-time undefeated swimming section champ.  Trinity is also the two-time MAC medalist and WPIAL qualifier.  Academic honors include high honor roll, the academic athlete award, and membership in the National Honors Society.  She plans on pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy with a specialization in athletic injuries.

Amalia Simmons will be playing volleyball at the University of Michigan where she’ll be studying business/international studies.  High school athletic honors include being a four-year varsity letter recipient, three-year Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association All State first team member, WPIAL Big 56 First Team, All-State All Star, and varsity Lady Tigers captain.  She’s also in the National Honor Society and high honor roll.

Reilly Sunday will be playing basketball at Duquesne University where she plans on studying physical therapy.  She is a two-time 5A First Team All-Section, Class 5A Third Team All State, Class 5A All Classification and on the Times 20 All Stars.  Reilly is also on the honor roll.  After college, she hopes to play basketball professionally overseas.

Emma Theodorsson is headed to Bucknell University to play basketball.  She is 1st team All Section, All WPIAL 5A, All State Team, 1,000-point scorer, and the U18 Icelandic Team.  Emma has been on the honor roll throughout high school and is the senior class treasurer.

Megan Tomasic will be swimming at Ashland University where she plans on studying toxicology and forensic biology.  She is a scholar athlete, three-time WPIAL qualifier, state qualifier and took 1st place in the 500 at the 2019 MACs.  After college, she plans to pursue a career as a crime scene investigator.

Aleena Ulke will be playing soccer at Syracuse University and studying health and exercise science.   Her high school athletic successes include Newcomer of the Year, Defender of the Year, Big 56 2nd Team, Scholar Athlete Award and varsity letter winner.  She is on the high honor roll and has received the academic award of honors.  She hopes to have a career as a physician’s assistant or a physical therapist.
