MASD Travel Update -- November 17, 2021

update

Dear MASD Families,

With the holiday season fast approaching, please take a minute to familiarize yourself with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) current travel guidelines.

CDC Travel Recommendations By Destination

The CDC is monitoring COVID-19 risk in destinations around the world and making travel recommendations. Destinations have been categorized based on the COVID-19 levels. There are currently four levels – low, moderate, high and very high. The CDC has issued travel notices for certain destinations.

CDC Travel Notices by COVID-19 Level

The CDC recommends avoiding traveling to a Level 4 destination. However, if you travel, Moon Area School District requires all students and staff to follow the CDC’s recommendations upon returning home before your child can attend school in person.

After arrival in the United States, all travelers regardless of vaccination status, must:

  • Get tested with a COVID-19 viral test 3-5 days after travel.

  • Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms. Isolate if symptoms develop.

If you are not fully vaccinated:

  • Stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel, even if you test negative at 3–5 days.

  • If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.

If your test result is positive:

  • Isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.

Please contact your child’s school nurse if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Barry J. Balaski
Superintendent
Moon Area School District
