Today we received an update from the Allegheny County Health Department and the Pennsylvania Department of Health regarding guidance for quarantine/isolation related to COVID-19. Effective immediately, the following changes will be implemented in our schools.
Please note: Masking is required for all during school hours until January 17.
If an individual tests positive for COVID-19
A person who has received a positive COVID-19 test may return to work or school after 5 days of isolation if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are improving (and they are fever-free for 24 hours). They must wear a mask for the next 5 days while at school and all school related activities.
If an individual is exposed to COVID-19
Those exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 must quarantine for 5 days and may test. If the test is negative, they may then return to work or school with a mask for the next 5 days.
If the individual chooses not to test after 5 days, then they must quarantine for 10 days at this time.
Those exposed to COVID-19 are exempt from quarantine and may continue to attend work or school if they are:
completely vaccinated with a Pfizer or Moderna (mRNA) within the last 6 months
or completely vaccinated with the J&J shot in the past 2 months
or are vaccinated and boostered (3 shots in an mRNA vaccine or 2 with a viral vector – J&J)
Thank you for your continued patience and support. We have already been informed there may be additional changes in the near future. We will continue to share updates with you.
