MASD Update -- January 7, 2022

update

Dear MASD Families:

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, maintaining transparency with families about the impact of covid on our schools has been a priority.

As you know, we launched a covid dashboard prior to the 2020-2021 school year. Until now, the dashboard has tracked active covid cases over a 10 day period. However, with the changing guidance from the Allegheny Department of Health, Pennsylvania Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we have updated our dashboard to reflect active cases over a 5 day period.

To continue to maintain transparency, we want to share this change with you in case you notice a decrease in the number of cases today. This decrease is not a result of covid cases dropping in our schools. Instead, the decrease reflects the shift from reporting active cases over a 10 day period to reporting them over a 5 day period.

It is also important to note that all covid cases are self-reported to the district. If your child tests positive for covid, please inform their school nurse.

Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Sincerely,

Barry J. Balaski
Superintendent
Moon Area School District
