MASD Update -- January 14, 2022

MASD update

Dear MASD Families,

On January 10, the Moon Area School District Board of School Directors updated the district’s Health and Safety Plan once again. Click to view the updated plan. According to the updated plan, masks are recommended, but no longer required in our schools as of Monday, January 17, 2022.

Please be aware that there are a few exceptions when masks must be worn.

Any time a student is utilizing school transportation, they must wear a mask per the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) federal mandate. Please ensure your child has a mask for the bus.

Our school nurse’s office is treated like a medical office. Everyone who is in the nurse's office must wear a mask while they are there for any reason.

We continue to follow the Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines for positive covid cases. Any student who tests positive or has covid symptoms must stay home for a minimum of five days. If after five days symptoms are improving and the student has been fever free for 24 hours, they may return to school and are highly encouraged to wear a mask until 10 days from their initial symptoms have passed. It’s highly recommended that students wear a mask for five days if they are considered a close contact of a positive covid case.

The latest guidelines can be found on our website. Click to view.

If your child tests positive for covid, please let our school nurses know as soon as possible. If you have specific medical questions, please contact your family physician for further help and guidance.
