Middle School students in Mrs. Martindale's STEAM class recently learned about renewable resources.
They kicked off our lesson with an interactive learning platform that uses live data and an interactive map of the U.S. The data was used to determine specific areas that would greatly benefit from the different types of renewable resources.
Students then worked collaboratively to plan, design and build a Minecraft biome for the renewable resource they chose. Their biome had to showcase each step of the process to create electricity from a source in nature. They students focused on hydro, aero, solar, geothermal and biomass.
After their Minecraft biome was complete, students captured images from their biomes to create a PPT explaining how renewable resources work and the benefits of them.
