During January and February, music students across the state of Pennsylvania participate in various band, orchestra, and choir festivals sponsored by Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA). These festivals provide additional enriching experiences to dedicated music students.
While attending these festivals, students auditioned to move onto the next stage. The PMEA system is set-up as a district, region, and state qualifier system in which students qualify for each level by successfully auditioning into the next ensemble. Auditions are adjudicated by ensemble directors from across the state. Each level brings students from additional schools culminating at the All-State level where students from all across the state of Pennsylvania are auditioning to be named an All-State Musician.
There are 12 Districts, and 6 Regions in the state with around only fifteen to twenty percent of the students who begins at the district level move onto the All-state level. PMEA District 1 is comprised of schools in Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties.
Congratulations to the Moon Area High School students who recently participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 1 Festivals!
