Six students participated in the Moon Area High School (MAHS) February National Letter of Intent Signing Day in the high school gymnasium on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.
Lillie Archer, Ramone Dean, Malcolm Johnson, Shawn Hytla, Ana Molnar, and Anthony Parsons all formally committed to play sports in college in the fall of 2019.
In the fall of 2019, Lillie Archer will be a member of the West Virginia Wesleyan swim team in the Mountain East Conference (MEC). Archer will play for the Division II school under the direction of April Glitzen. Archer is a two-time varsity swim captain, two-time WPIAL qualifier, and four-time letter winner. She will major in history this fall with a career goal of becoming a curator. Archer is an honors/high honors student and is also a member of the track and field team.
Ramone Dean will join the Edinboro University football team in the fall of 2019 as a safety. Dean will play for the Division II school for coach Wayne Bradford in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. He is an honors student and also a member of the Moon Area High School track team. Dean plans on majoring in criminology with hopes to one day join the SWAT team.
Malcolm Johnson will join his teammate Ramone Dean at Edinboro University on the football team as a cornerback. Johnson was named to the Second Team All-Conference and was also named a scholar athlete. He plans on majoring in health/physical education at Edinboro with a goal of becoming a coach. Johnson is an honors student and also a member of the rugby and track teams.
Shawn Hytla will join the Waynesburg University football team this fall as a defensive end. He will play for the Division III Yellow Jackets under the direction of coach Chris Smithley. Hytla is a four-year varsity letterman on the hockey team, three-year varsity letterman in football, two-year letterman in track, and a one-year letterman in bowling. Hytla plans on pursuing a nursing degree and becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
Anna Molnar will join the Wheeling Jesuit University (WJU) soccer team this fall as a midfielder. During Molnar's tenure on the soccer team, they have won one section, two WPIAL, and two state championships. Molnar will play for the Division II team under the direction of coach Tyler Absalom. She anticipates majoring in nursing at WJU. Molnar is also a high honor roll student.
Anthony Parsons will join the Waynesburg University football team this fall as a long snapper. He will be playing for the Division III team under Chris Smithley. At Waynesburgh, Parsons will major in criminal justice. Parsons is also a member of the rugby and bowling teams.
