    UPDATE: On Thursday, April 9, 2020, Governor Wolf announced that Pennsylvania schools will remain closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 academic year. All facilities are closed until further notice. All events are cancelled or postponed until further notice. 

    The District’s Technology Department has established a technology support hotline for students only at 412-264-3013. The helpline will be staffed Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. during the closure. All calls received outside of this time frame will be recorded and returned in the order in which they were received.

Broadway Star, Michael Campayno, Surprises MAHS Drama Students by Directing Frozen Jr. Rehearsal

Moon Area High School (MAHS) drama club students had a surprise visit from a Broadway star during their Frozen Jr. rehearsal on October 21, 2019.

Pittsburgh native and Broadway star, Michael Campayno, ran Monday night’s rehearsal for the Frozen Jr. cast and crew.

Campayno attended Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) while studying theater but left the school to accept the role of Rolf alongside Carrie Underwood in NBC’s The Sound of Music. After finishing his degree at CMU, Campayno Moved in New York City where he starred as Fieryo in Wicked and more recently took the role of Robert Camilletti in The Cher Show.

During Campayno’s visit to MAHS, he spoke with students about his journey in deciding he wanted to pursue a career in theater. He stressed the importance of a good work ethic, taking care of yourself, and spreading kindness everywhere you go.

“To be able to work with someone of Michael’s caliber is a true gift to these students,” said drama club sponsor, Mr. Robert Michael. “He is able to put a face to the reality of becoming a working actor, which is something a few of our cast members are exploring.”
