Fourth grade students in Mrs. Eaton's math classes at Brooks Elementary took the lead in teaching a lesson to Mrs. Myers' 3rd grade classes on Friday, September 20, 2019. Mrs. Eaton's classes taught the 3rd graders how to change a number from standard form to expanded form.
Fourth grade students initially wrote letters to the 3rd graders explaining how to expand a number in standard form. Then, they delivered those letters and taught a lesson on how to expand numbers, incorporating both language arts and math in the lesson.
"The 4th graders greatly benefited from this activity by reinforcing their newly learned skill, while the 3rd graders received enrichment," said Mrs. Eaton. "It's a win, win for all."
