COVID-19 Information 3/12/2020


Dear Parents and Guardians,


Moon Area School District has been closely following the development of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the recommendations as given by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD).

This afternoon, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced a recommendation to limit recreational activities for crowds larger than 250 people beginning tomorrow, March 13, 2020, for 14 days.

That being said, we will be postponing or cancelling events. We will keep you informed of any event changes. The SAT exam scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2020, at the high school is canceled.

We always encourage our families to plan ahead for inclement weather, school emergencies, natural disasters, etc. during instances when school closes on short notice. As we have seen closures in Montgomery County, PA, and throughout the state of Ohio, we are asking our families to have plans in place in the event that Western Pennsylvania schools close due to COVID-19.

It is important to practice proper coughing/sneezing etiquette, stay at home when you are not feeling well, and contact your doctor if you have a fever accompanied by respiratory symptoms. For more information on COVID-19 prevention and guidance, please visit the following links:

There is a phone conference tomorrow with the Pennsylvania Secretary of Education, Mr. Pedro Rivera, where Districts will learn more about guidance from the state. We will communicate tomorrow updates to our families regarding educational plans and the activity cancellations.
