April 9, 2020
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Today, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced that the school closure will extend to the end of the academic year. We know that Governor Wolf’s decision was made in the best interest of our students, staff, and community in order to keep us safe and mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Nevertheless, this news is difficult to hear. We want all of our students to know that we are thinking of you and we will continue to provide distance learning through the end of the school year. We will continue to follow the 2019-2020 school calendar that was approved at the March 23, 2020, board meeting and posted on the District website.
While teachers will continue to post assignments for Friday, April 10, 2020, deadlines will be extended to accommodate the holiday weekend and to give our students and staff quality time with their families.
In an effort to simplify and centralize class links and information, teachers will begin to implement a single sign-on service called Clever. This additional resource and sign-on information will be sent on Monday, April 13, 2020. This platform will host all teacher classroom links and resources students need to successfully participate in distance learning. Clever addresses the issue of searching for classroom links and remembering passwords for various sites.
As we continue to monitor the evolving guidance from the CDC and Governor Wolf, we will amend plans for events such as kindergarten registration and graduation.
We appreciate the efforts of our teachers, students, and families as we adapt to these extraordinary circumstances. While we won’t be returning to our classrooms this school year, we are excited for the day we will all be reunited in Moon Area schools.
