The Moon Area High School (MAHS) marching band traveled to Fortress Obetz, Ohio, on Saturday, September 28 to compete in the 2019 Bands of America (BOA) Central Ohio Regional Competition.
The MAHS marching band competed against 18 school bands who traveled from Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, and Pennsylvania to vie for the championship title. The band’s show, titled “No Comment,” explored the use of social media.
The BOA competition begins with each band competing during a preliminary round. Afterwards, awards are given for top scores in each class size (A, 2A, 3A, and 4A) at the awards ceremony. Accolades are also given to the top ten bands overall, regardless of class. These select bands have the opportunity to perform in the evening show at the competition.
MAHS placed second in class 2A, behind Kiski Area High School, and placed fifth in the overall in the preliminary performance.
In the evening show, the MAHS band placed fourth, following first-place Kiski Area High School (Vandergrift, PA); second-place Lakota East High School (Cincinnati, OH); and Pickerington North High School (Pickerington, OH).
Congratulations, MAHS marching band!
