MAHS Student Attends NYC Theater Workshop and will Partner with CMU, PPU Through CLO

In the spring of 2019, Moon Area High School (MAHS) theater students had a chance to attend a masterclass with talent scout, Peter Sklar.

During the masterclass, junior Kade Anthony was one of four MAHS students selected to attend Sklar’s workshop class in New York City (NYC) during the summer of 2019. Kade attended the workshop in New York and gained professional training and experience during his time there.

At the conclusion of the NYC workshop, Kade and the participating students gave a performance at the Orpheum Theatre in NYC, giving him an off-Broadway credit for his resume while working with notable actors.

Along with receiving professional training, Kade is also making an impression locally in the theater community. In the spring of 2019, Moon Area High School was nominated as Best Musical for the Gene Kelley Awards. As part of the nomination, MAHS musical students were given the opportunity to audition for partial scholarships through the Civic Light Opera (CLO).

Kade’s impression on the judges influenced an unusual offer – a full scholarship for their professional track and to open an opportunity for him to partner with Carnegie Mellon University and Point Park University. In addition to this unique opportunity, Kade will also be cast in the CLO summer season at the Benedum.

“It’s so exciting to see him excel and have the opportunity to fine-tune his skills with professionals who currently work in the industry,” said MAHS drama club sponsor, Mr. Robert Michael, who has worked with him for several years. “I have no doubt that he will be a star and we will see him do wonderful things!”

Bravo, Kade!
