MAHS Students Attend Masterclass with Broadway Stars

Moon Area High School (MAHS) musical cast members had the opportunity to attend a masterclass hosted by Broadway stars Philippe Arroyo and Lauren Marcus on Monday, February 3, 2020, in the high school auditorium.

Arroyo and Marcus are currently cast in the Pittsburgh Public Theatre’s production of Little Shop of Horrors (LSOH), the same show that the MAHS Drama Club will perform this March. Arroyo will play Seymour in LSOH and Marcus will play Audrey.

The two Broadway stars answered a wide variety of questions from students about career advice, acting tips, and questions specific to LSOH.

Arroyo is a recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and was cast in Disney’s Aladdin and Into the Woods, while Marcus was a member of the original cast of Be More Chill.

“The entire cast, stage managers, and plant puppet operators went to see Philippe and Lauren in their production of Little Shop of Horrors two days later,” said Drama Club sponsor, Mr. Robert Michael. “Not only did they get to work with them, but they got to see them perform their roles!”
