Moon Area High School (MAHS) students finished first at the Grove City College Accounting Competition on Tuesday, May 7, at Grove City College.
The winning team was comprised of Carson Dominick, Jairaj Patel, and Caylie Dilley.
The competition asked teams of students to analyze financial statements, complete accounting exercises, and complete other engaging activities in a scavenger hunt simulation. All groups worked with a Grove City student. Members of the first, second, third, and fourth place teams received a trophy, shirt, bag, or water bottle.
The event at Grove City College is an opportunity to enhance and expand accounting curriculum. Students also had the opportunity to learn from college professors as Grove City faculty and students presented information about the field of accounting, benefits of the college experience, internships, and networking opportunities.
MAHS had three teams participate as attending schools were permitted to enter multiple teams. This event marks the second accounting competition this school year that MAHS placed first as our students previously won first place at an event in November 2018 at Duquesne University.
