Moon Area Middle School English as a Second Language (ESL) students showcased their diverse cultures through two displays in the school.
Some students represented Puerto Rico, Guinea, Guatemala, and El Salvador by writing about cultural celebrations. These events include Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), Day of the Three Kings (El Dia de Reyes), and Ramadan.
Other students chose to retell a folktale native to their cultures. Their displays represented the countries of Vietnam, Brazil, India, Puerto Rico, and Central America.
“The project served as a springboard for discussion among their classmates who were intrigued by the differences and similarities in life here and overseas,” said Moon Area School District (MASD) ESL instructor, Mrs. Debby Kailer.
