MAMS Student, Nithya Kaarthi, Wins PA Resource Council's 10th Annual Poster Contest

Nithya Kaarthi

Moon Area Middle School 7th grade student, Nithya Kaarthi, won first place in her age group in the 10th Annual Pennsylvania Resource Council's (PRC) Let's Clear the Air Poster Challenge.

The poster contest is sponsored by PRC and the Southwest PA Air Quality Partnership to foster a sense of awareness for air pollution and to help educate others on alternatives to reduce our carbon footprint.

Kaarthi's poster titled "Let's Clean the Air Solutions," highlights feasible changes people can make to improve air quality and reduce pollution. Her suggestions include: recycling, reducing motor vehicle use, opening the windows in your home, and planting more trees.

Greater Pittsburgh Area students in grades 4-12 from nine local counties were able to participate in the contest.

Kaarthi was also recently the winner in her age group for the regional 2019 National Chemistry Week Illustrated Poem Contest and advanced to the national level.

Congratulations, Nithya!
