Moon Area Middle School 7th grade student, Ria Khazanchi, won first place for grades 6-8 in the Pittsburgh Section of the 2019 Earth Day Poem Contest.
The contest is hosted by the Pittsburgh Section of the American Chemical Society. Participants in the contest wrote a poem that parallels this year’s theme of “Take Note: The History of Paper.”
Khazanchi received a monetary prize and certificate for her achievement.
Khazanchi’s winning submission advanced her to compete at the national level with winners being announced in late May or early June.
