Moon Area Middle School Incident: 2/11/2020

Dear Moon Area School District Families,

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on February 11, 2020, Moon Area officials and local police were notified by an anonymous tip through the state’s Safe2Say Something app of a threat to the middle school. The police have done an initial investigation and have deemed the threat non-credible.

Because we take all threats seriously, the middle school and high school will have added police presence tomorrow, February 12, 2020. School will continue tomorrow for all buildings as regularly scheduled.

Moon Area School District treats all threats seriously and the investigation is ongoing. As we continue to work in full cooperation with local police, we emphasize to our students, staff, and community members: if you see something, say something, as it is all of our responsibility to keep students safe.

Counselor support will be available for students and staff members this week.

Barry Balaski

Acting Superintendent

Moon Area School District
