Robert Morris University (RMU) Professor Greg Krivacek and two RMU students visited Moon Area High School (MAHS) on Monday, September 23, 2019, to present information to the College in High School (CHS) accounting class.
MAHS students enrolled in the CHS accounting class have an opportunity to earn college credits through RMU. Professor Krivacek teaches the financial accounting course at RMU and presented his professional background as well as educational and work experiences.
Danielle Wicklund and MAHS alumni, R.J. Kanith, represented RMU accounting students and discussed many topics with the MAHS students, including the importance of taking accounting in high school to prepare for college and to help with personal finances.
The topics included educational pathways, professional certifications, suggested professional skills, future changes in the field of accounting, work/life benefits of the career, and potential employers.
Danielle Wicklund currently serves as the president of Association of Future Accountants (AFA) student organization at RMU and R.J. Kanith serves as an ambassador for the AFA.
The event provided an enhancement to the curriculum by allowing the students to understand the importance of their studies as it relates to the real world.
