All clearances must be re-certified every five (5) year.
There are two (2) steps to become a volunteer for the Moon Area School District.
Step 1: Obtain (3) clearances required by ACT 153 (see below)
Step 2: Establish an Applitrack account and upload clearances
STEP 1
Act 153 defines volunteers as any adult applying for an unpaid position as a volunteer responsible for: (1) The welfare of a child and/or (2) having direct contact with children.
Act 153 requires volunteers to obtain the following three (3) clearances AND must be re-certified every five (5) years.
- Report of Criminal History from the Pennsylvania State Police:
- Go to https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp.
- There is no charge for requests for the purpose of volunteering. When you visit the website, click the yellow box "New Record Check" (Volunteers only).
- Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services:
- Apply online at https://www.compass.state.pa.us/CWIS.
- Once you create an account, you will receive an email with your password. Log in to the website and complete the clearance application. There is no cost for volunteers.
- Verification can take up to 14 days and applicants can choose to receive notification via email, mailed to their home address, or both.
- Fingerprint-based Federal Criminal History (FBI) submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent is required:
- If the volunteer lived in PA for the last 10 years OR the position is unpaid, an affidavit will be accepted in lieu of the Fingerprint Based Criminal History. This affidavit will be available in Applitrack once you upload and submit the other clearances into your account.
- If the volunteer lived outside of PA in the last 10 years, the volunteer must take the necessary steps to obtain the Fingerprint-based Federal Criminal History report.
- Register with IdentoGO: https://uenroll.identogo.com/
- All volunteers must use the following service code when obtaining clearances to voluntter in school: 1KG6ZJ
- Your FBI volunteer clearance will come directly from the Department of Human Services (DHS).
- Any questions or problems with the above code, contact DHS directly at 1-877-371-5422 or RA-PWCPSLQUESTIONS@pa.gov.
- There is a fee of $22.60 for the fingerprint clearance.
- Applicants must provide proof of identity upon arrival at the Fingerprint Center (a state issued drivers’ license, state I.D card, passport, etc.).
STEP 2
To begin: Go to Moon Area School District's Applitrack website.
If you already have established an applitrack account.
1. Login and Click on “Employment Application" tab.
2. Click on JOBID 267 OR JOBID282.
3. Update the grade level/building if necessary.
4. Verify your clearances are valid (no more than 5 years from issued date).
5. If needed, delete outdated clearances and upload new one(s).
6. If Applicable, click on the "Volunteer Affidavit."
7. Click on "Finish and Submit."
8. Contact your child’s teacher notifying them clearances are ready for review.
If you already have established an applitrack account.
- Under "External Applications" select "Start an Application for Employment" or "Volunteer."
- On the right-hand side select "Start-Begin the Process."
- Complete all the required information, then click "Next."
- Choose if you are a current employee of the district: Yes or No
- Enter your permanent / present address and phone number
- Click on the desired position: "JobID 267" volunteer lived in PA for past 10 years OR "JobID 282" volunteer has not lived in PA for the last 10 years.
- Select what building(s), grade level(s).
- Sign the "Volunteer Affidavit" if applicable.
- Upload the required clearances.
- Confirm the submission.
- Contact your child’s teacher notifying them the clearances are ready for review.
All clearances must be submitted via Applitrack (www.applitrack.com/moonarea/onlineapp)
