Preschool Registration
Dear Prospective Preschool Parents,
Thank you for your interest in Moon Preschool! Moon Preschool is a unique preschool that is supervised by Ms. Roxanne Ludwig and taught by high school students as a component of our Child Development classes. Moon Preschool is affiliated with the Moon Area High School and, as such, must follow the schedule of the high school and its programs. Although Ms. Ludwig is always in the classroom, the high school students act as “teachers” and plan and implement all lessons for the preschoolers. There are many advantages to a program like ours. Most importantly, the preschool children benefit from the experience and accomplishments of Ms. Ludwig coupled with the youth and enthusiasm of the high school students. The teacher/student ratio is 1:1.
Learning basic concepts like shapes, colors, numbers and letters is only a portion of what we teach at Moon Preschool. Helping each child develop a positive self-esteem in order to be successful in future years is a top priority of ours. It is our goal to provide a learning atmosphere that will help your child feel secure with him or herself, allow your child to develop social skills and prepare your child for their kindergarten experience.
Moon Preschool embraces the “learning through play” philosophy and strives to make the learning experience fun and creative. We accomplish this through the use of arts, crafts, science projects, games, songs, story time and various other activities. Throughout the year we visit different areas of Moon High school such as the library, academic classrooms, the gymnasium, the computer lab and the Foods room. The year culminates in our annual graduation ceremony.
Requirements to register for the preschool include:
- Child must be 3-5 years of age
- Child must be a Moon/Crescent Township resident
- Child MUST be potty trained
Children who are currently enrolled are always offered first choice for the following year. Ms. Ludwig maintains waiting lists for both preschool classes on an ongoing basis. The full year session starts in late September and meets on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:25 am – 10:05 am. The half-year session begins in late January and meets on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:50 am - 1:15 pm. The cost is $120 per semester, so the full-year session pays $120 at the beginning of the year and another $120 at the beginning of the second semester (for a yearly total of $240). The half-year session pays $120 only once at the beginning of the semester.
