MAHS Drama Club Perseveres Through School Closure with Virtual Master Class

Virtual Master Class

The Moon Area High School (MAHS) Drama Club is persevering through the COVID-19 school closure as they continue to meet each week virtually.

This week, Caitlin Kinnunen joined the Drama Club for a virtual master class. Last year, Kinnunen was nominated for Best Leading Actress for The Prom at the Tony Awards with her Broadway repertoire also encompassing Spring Awakening and The Bridges of Madison County. She also performed on the 2019 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as well as the Tony Awards.

Kinnunen answered a range of questions including what it's like to live in New York City, Broadway auditions, vocal and physical warm ups, and how she handled the instant fame.

"Something that really stuck out to me was when she told the students it's really important to be who they are as unique individuals both in auditions and on stage," said Drama Club sponsor, Mr. Rob Michael. "She stressed that comparing yourself to others is dangerous in the success of any artist."

"This closure and the postponement of our show is really hard on the kids," continued Mr. Michael, "so I was thankful that she was able to join us and see them smile again!"
